Defining Creativity

During this lecture, we were taught more detailed about creativity after it been briefed during past lecture. According to few resources that can be found online, like Wikipedia, uwsp, and some other writer and philosopher, I can make a conclusion about the definition of creativity.

Creativity can be define as the ability and power to generate ideas and thought into reality. The process including critical thinking and the creativity process itself.

It is true to be said that, there is no longer any originality can be found in todays' designs and even it have, it is hard to be found. However, creativity helps designer to elaborate and used up others people designs as part of their work by generating different thought and ideas on it which seems to be different from others. Hence, it create an originality onto the piece of artwork through creative process.

Here is part of the history about light bulb. Thomas Edison is not the first who created light bulb but Humphry Davy did. What Thomas Edison do was just to improve what had existed becoming more practical, safe and economical. ( Resources from here.)

Put the history aside and let me ask you a question. Is it a light bulb can only be just a light bulb? Everyone can be creative enough to produce something and generate new thoughts to others. Just like the picture below, a light bulb can be something else, depending on how you look upon a things.

A simple exercise is given by the lecturer for this lesson, which is to edit a friend's photo up to your personal skills and creativity.

Top: Original photo
Below: Edited

My idea was to create the image of my fren in a vector mode rather than editing on the photo itself. It seems to be more fun in which we can add in simple shapes to make it looks totally different.
